WASHINGTON — Decision Still Pending After High-Stakes Meeting

President Donald Trump concluded a critical meeting with top advisers in the White House Situation Room on Friday without publicly announcing a final decision on a tentative agreement with Iran.

The proposed framework would reportedly reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz to unrestricted commercial traffic while initiating a new round of negotiations concerning Tehran's nuclear program. Administration officials described the discussions as among the most consequential foreign-policy deliberations of Trump's current term.

Before entering the meeting, Trump told reporters he was preparing to make a "final determination" regarding the proposal. However, hours later, no official announcement had emerged from the White House.

Tehran Signals Negotiations Continue

Officials in Tehran indicated that negotiations remain unfinished.

A spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry stated that a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran has not yet been finalized. There has also been no public confirmation that Iran's supreme leadership has formally approved the proposed framework.

Diplomatic observers say the coming days could determine whether both sides move toward direct negotiations or return to heightened regional tensions.
